Massachusetts Credit Unions tap new source of revenue for charitable giving
Thanks to a recently formed “give-back” program designed to produce a new source of revenue for charitable giving by credit unions, the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless and its “A Bed for Every Child” initiative was the recipient recently of a check topping $5,000 from LTI Business Solutions (LTI) presented on behalf of Workers Credit Union.
Conceived by Walt Laskos in collaboration with Isaiah Moskowitz , CEO of LTI, the new give-back program has LTI giving a portion of the commission paid for performing credit union media buys back to charities on behalf of the credit union.
In presenting the donation, Moskowitz explained his agency’s rationale, saying “After working with credit unions for several years and seeing their commitment to the communities they serve and their generosity in giving back to those in need, I’ve chosen to embrace those same values in my own business practices. Returning a portion of the commission not only enhances the work of credit unions, it also strengthens the charities they support.”
LTI’s check presentation was made on behalf of Workers Credit Union, and the services LTI performed for the Littleton-based credit union as its media-buying agent. Noting the benefits of selecting LTI as a business partner, Caroline Santangelo, SVP Marketing and Product Development at Workers Credit Union, said, “While LTI delivers superior marketing talents and media-buying services, it also provides us with the added advantage of working with a business partner that not only understands credit unions and our values, but also emulates them for such a worthy cause.”
The Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless and its “A Bed for Every Child” initiative is the official state charity of the Massachusetts Credit Unions and its social responsibility committee. As chairperson of the committee, Charlene Bauer, SVP, Outreach and Advocacy at Metro Credit Union, highlighted the relevance of the donation, saying, “Generating new sources of charitable funding in today’s economic environment can be a challenging endeavor. By making today’s donation, LTI Business Solutions has proven that its new media-buying program meets that challenge.”
Robyn Frost, executive director at the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless summed up the impact credit unions are making by tapping new and innovative sources of revenue. “Today’s donation will produce and deliver 15 new beds for children in need. Once again, this further demonstrates the generosity of credit unions and their commitment to ‘people helping people,’” she said.
